Why do you support Top 100 Women?
I am a strong supporter of the important work that Top 100 Women is doing in helping to achieve greater representation of women in construction.
I am proud to be acknowledged as a Male Champion, and aiding in the required change for increased building and construction workforce diversity.
With Builders Academy Australia being a founding partner with Top 100 Women, we value our role in helping to showcase current female leaders in construction, as well as educating future generations on genuine employment opportunities across the sector.
Our focus is on educating future building and construction workplace leaders and supporting businesses to take steps to attract, educate, recruit, and retain female workers. We understand the important role we can play to help women be aware that construction is an attractive and viable career option. I have been proud to take part in initiatives that help drive this understanding, such as this video:
With women making up less than 3% of the workers in Australian construction, I share Top 100 Women’s vision of ensuring women have opportunities to become fully qualified and well-paid tradespeople.
Greater representation of women in construction will benefit everyone in the industry and I look forward to continuing to champion this cause.
We understand you have children, so how important is it to you to change the future of the workplace for them and their peers?
I currently have a 2-year-old daughter and I reflect on what kind of opportunities I want to be available for her as she looks to enter the workforce. I believe that individuals like me in leadership positions have an important responsibility to help break down stereotypes, educate, help remove barriers, and set a positive example to ensure equality of opportunity for future generations.
