What do you enjoy the most, working in the field of construction & development?
Each project is reviewed and assessed as a unique building, which comes with its own set of problems or issues that provide a challenge every day. Being able to develop my knowledge and understanding of the building surveying industry, with my father as my mentor, has been very rewarding.
Where do you see your life in the next 5 years, what possibilities are ahead of you?
As the Director and CEO of the certification business, working as a level 1 Senior Building Surveyor. Also promoting, supporting and encouraging women in the building surveying industry and providing training courses for young women and men to enter into the building surveying industry. Maybe even working with my daughter or son in the construction industry.
If you could write a letter to a 13-year-old ‘you’ what would you say?
Find your passion first, really assess yourself, ask what magazines do you buy? What TV shows do you watch? What website do you look at? What apps or games do you play on your devices? Then investigate a career in that area, talk to women in different fields, don’t just follow what grades you get in high school or what’s popular or easy at the time.
