What do you enjoy the most about working in the field of construction and development?
I really enjoy what I do!! I am surrounded and faced with many challenges on a daily basis that has played a large part in my lessons learned, understanding, and passion for my career and self-development. I have always dreamed to be in a career that is challenging, allowed me to meet people from different walks of life, and most importantly, constantly presenting opportunities to grow as a person and a professional. Construction and Development is an industry that is continuously evolving and there is always something new to learn – whether on purpose or not. There is no handbook on what your career in the industry should look like, and that is the beauty of it – you make it your own. The construction and development industry has allowed me to inspire others with my journey and that will always be the most rewarding part of what I do. The endless opportunity to grow and learn is like being given a gift that keeps on giving!
Where do you see your life in the next 5 years, what possibilities are ahead of you?
In the next 5 years, I see myself as a Senior Project Manager on my way to becoming a Project Director. I see myself ticking a lot of things off my bucket list and supporting my two children as they embark on their own journey into the BIG BIG world. However, being a mentor is the ultimate dream. I love inspiring and seeing people succeed, especially when they achieve their personal and career goals.
If you could write a letter to a 13-year-old ‘you’, what would you say?
Dear Nurdiah,
You don’t know me yet, but I am your 33-year-old self. Read this letter carefully as it has very important information about your future!!
Life may not make sense right now, but it will. I know you are struggling to find your feet and figure out what you want to do with your life – but you will get there. Have faith and confidence in yourself!
You will be a success and an inspiration to many – you will meet MANY people in your life who will come and go, but trust that it is for a reason. It’s ok. Nothing lasts forever – but you will learn a lot from these people and they will be the motivation behind your success and becoming the confident, strong, and independent woman you will be one day.
You will be diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the age of 16 – take care of your health and start exercising! There is nothing you can do to prevent this. Just be prepared for it. Always take care of yourself first.
You will infect the world with your energy and you will love doing it. Always remember to pray and be thankful.
Remember to always be you. Do you. Love you. For you.
Nurdiah
