What do you enjoy the most, working in the field of construction & development?
The diversity of the role, together with the feeling of achievement when my team and I succeed. I also really enjoy coaching and mentoring new supervisors and watching them grow into their roles. The most enjoyment I receive is when I see the client’s dreams come true.
Where do you see your life in the next 5 years, what possibilities are ahead of you?
Supporting and mentoring more women to achieve their goal of working in construction. I hope to still be working at Simonds, although it would be great if there were a few more women in the on-site construction team!
If you could write a letter to a 13-year-old ‘you’ what would you say?
You have the strength and ability to achieve even your utmost wildest dream, as long as you focus on a positive mindset and not let others influence you.
What are 3 skills you have had to develop to get to where you are presently?
- Resilience: Not everyone is adjusted to women.
- Respect: For myself, colleges and those who are willing to mentor women in construction
- Commitment: Don’t be influenced by the negative and commit to your goals and dreams. This will out way the negative and personal growth is amazing.
