Every day at the Top 100 Women, we find individuals within the sector who are doing incredible things and flying under the radar, and we recognise them!
We acknowledge them!
We listen to their story…
Employers for a long time didn’t give many compliments, out of fear the employee’s confidence would grow. Of course, if the confidence of their staff grew too big, the belief was that this would result in ‘non-compliant’ individuals who wouldn’t follow suit.
So basically, we scared them into believing we should dictate like some Korean ruler and you, well, your voice didn’t matter!
So what is happening here at the Top 100 Women?
Quite the contrary really, because we were unmeaningly challenging that outdated belief system by telling these individuals their voices did matter.
The results?
Well, we had doors open for us everywhere we went, we had our entire first year in running costs sponsored by people who genuinely believed in our cause.
Because they suddenly knew, just how good it felt to be heard…
Subliminally we carry 3 messages – all of us!
- Do you hear me?
- Do you see me?
- Do you acknowledge me?
So I challenge you today to try it in your workplace…
- Listen to people
- Notice people
- Acknowledge people
This whole ‘hoo-ha’ around the basic human instincts is all too often overlooked.
Therefore, if you find yourself saying within your own head- this is basic or I know this!
Then ask yourself …Why the heck aren’t you practising it?
