I joined Top 100 Women because of my career in the construction industry, specifically because of my time spent being involved in mining – a man’s world so to speak. Since joining, it is amazing being part of a community of women setting the scene to highlight the challenges and barriers, but also the hard work of women in this industry. To me, it important that we show women and girls that you are supported and not alone.
I am a proud Waanyi woman from the Lower Gulf of Carpentaria. Born and raised on Kalkadoon Country, Mount Isa, I now live, work and play on Wulgurukaba/Bindal Country, Townsville. I am currently working to develop a full-service cultural sensitivity solution in social unity development to create pathways and provide advice to design and deliver cultural inclusion. I do this to increase cultural productivity and achieve healthier partnerships to attract Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees and businesses. This allows us to improve their internal cultural education and practices while ensuring relationships flourish, are sustainable, and deliver tangible value for all.
The path I walk has been walked before me by my ancestors, and I do my best every day to be a role model on how to understand the pain of racism and exclusion. My work creates a unique inter-cultural competency approach for a better tomorrow, allowing me to be a changemaker and a voice for the voiceless.
